MyBRISK provides funding for scientific and other projects consistent with the aims of the CRE. This funding is distributed via an application process which is overseen by a Funding Advisory Committee (comprised of MyBRISK Principal and Chief Investigators and, where pertinent, Associate Investigators and external advisors).
Grant Rounds
For projects seeking funding, the CRE opens a Grant Funding Round approximately every six months. All projects must involve at least one MyBRISK PI or CI Supervisor (meet our PI and CIs here). Examples of fundable projects include:
- Seed Funding Projects
Approximately $20,000 per project, which need to be completed within 12 months of award - Post-Doc Top-Up Fellowships
Approximately $20,000 for one year - PhD Top-Up Scholarships
Approximately $10,000 for one year - Conference Support Grants
Approximately $2,000 for Honours, Masters, or PhDs to present CRE work
One awarded per year (i.e. five Conference Grants in total over five years) - Post-Doc Training Grants
Approximately $2,000 for attendance (in-person or virtual) at a training course or a proposed period of study or placement at an institution to develop new skills or to extend current skills - Larger projects and initiatives
Above $20,000 and up to $200,000
Ideally, these projects build on external funding to expand initiatives that are consistent with the aims of CRE

Foundational funding
In additional to its Grant Funding Rounds, MyBRISK supports several initiatives that are considered foundational to the communication, engagement and knowledge translation aims of the CRE.
- MyBRISK CIs and AIs are supported to attend in-person CRE meetings (at least one per year) and other in-person scientific, operational and strategic meetings
- The CRE supports the Why Study Mammographic Density Conference, hosted biennially within Australia, in partnership with Information Forum on Mammographic Density (InforMD)
- Consumer Grants: The CRE provides scholarships to help support the involvement of consumer members of the Australian Breast Density Consumer Reference Group (ABDCR) to attend the above conference and related activities
- The CRE established and provides ongoing support to the Breast Density Research Interest Group. This group comes together through regular online updates and discussions (including a bi-weekly list of recent publications and initiatives from around the world) relating to the CRE’s risk-based breast cancer screening research.
